Fred Thompson showed nothing of substance, and the only reference he had to Cuban rafters is that if Fidel Castro sends an avalanche of boat people it would not be a good thing for Cuba.
Ok, that's interesting.
First of all, what's an avalanche of boat people?
Did Fidel Castro send them or they take onto the sea risking their lives BECAUSE of Fidel Castro and his policies?
Then, Fidel Castro? The guy's almost dead and a candidate to the Presidency of the United States is still becoming combative against a ghost. What about the regime, the successors of Fidel Castro?
Then he doesn't say: "It will not be a good thing for Fidel Castro". No, he said: "it will not be a good thing for Cuba".
So, let's see, Fidel Castro "sends" rafters. Freddy Bolohead Thompson threatens Cuba. He doesn't threat Fidel Castro (should be threatening raul or the regime as an institution). No, he threatens Cuba. Meaning, the Cubans, because last time I checked fidel castro WAS NOT Cuba.
El Freddo didn't offer an apology for equating Cuban rafters to suicide bombers. Not one of the people who was there had the cojones to ask for it. He didn't say a word of the Dry Foot Wet Foot, and nobody asked him about it.
Yeah, a lot of cheering, and a lot of the usual political pandering, and a lot people so excited that if they had tails they would be wagging them.
Nobody questioned him, in the huge crowd he assembled, like 80 people.

Henry was there, trying to interest Thompson in his pet theory that those who help Cubans to escape Castro's tyranny are working on behalf of Castro (whether they are carrying suitcases or not). The boy doesn't have many original ideas and tends to stick to the few that he does have like glue.

this is more of the same bullshit we are always hearing from both political parties. Every candidate (from both parties) makes their peregrination to the Versailles every 4 yeras, where they proceed to display the worst political pandering to the Cuban audiences full of promises and the typical political bullshit and then nothing happens. You would think these idiots who go to these meetings would know by now and stay way in droves. But no, they continue to be suckered in there and applaud these slick politicians full of snake oil talk and after the next 4 years they are in office, they see that it was all a ruse to get their vote and nothing more. Our freedom will not come from the hands of these masters of the snake oil, it will come from inside Cuba. And thank God for that, this way we will have nothing to be thankful for and will have no debts with them to repay. They should be ignored, but they won't.
