The population is coming out to the streets in Havana, the Brigadas de Respuesta Rapida have been patrolling with the police, but in La Vibora, Centro Habana, and El Cerro the residents are out on the streets and there are screams of ABAJO FIDEL.
We are still waiting for confirmation on the death of the beast.

A good sign comes by omission: The Granma (official communist party newspaper in Cuba) hasn't updated its website. This is a great sign, because no pre-written statement is up to the situation.

Many people went down la Rampa from Coppelia towards el Malecon. There are police presence in the area of Coppelia and the Havana Hilton, and near other hotels in the Capital.
Apparently, this is going to be a night without turmoil in Havana.

I am ambivolent about this. On one hand, I'm certainly happy that he's dying slowly, and in pain. But on the other, I'm sad that (unlike Zarkawi) he won't know that his enemies caused it.

Prensa Latina had the story even while Granma didn't. The MSM is reporting that things are quiet in Cuba. Marta Beatriz Roque is talking on the phone with channel 41 and she says things are quiet and she thinks the opposition is being cautious. I hope you guys are right.

It's good to know that the U.S. government has not abandoned its efforts to liberate Cuba of that anachronistic dictator Fidel Castro. In fact, the U.S. government has probably succeeded in a slow-motion, high-tech assassination. It's good that their doctors aren't smart enough to figure out what happened to Mr. Castro. All the evidence points to a kind of reverse-radiotherapy, applying a principle well-known to radiotherapists. When he was on his adventures in Argentina recently, he was cross-fired with powerful X-ray lasers from different angles. Hidden in TV cameras, the X-ray laser beams would converge in Mr. Dictator's fat abdomen. Each beam would not leave enough collateral damage to produce a distinct track. But several beams could be made to converge at a common region, such as the dictator's intestines, and at that location enough irradiation would be received to permanently destroy intestinal tissues.
