Shifting gears.....
This morning I was in a WiFi area exchanging e-mails with our sources in Cuba, just to piss off the denizens of the Cuban interest section in this fair city, when I starting "cyber talking" about che huevera with one of our sources. He has read about the book by Fontova, and he will actually like Humberto to send us a pdf of the whole damn effing book so he can read it (and Oh, Raul!!!!) circulate it within Cuba. So Guajiro, si estas leyendo esto mandame un pdf carajo!
So, what does Charlie Bravo do under this circumstances?
The WiFi area is in very well know -and large- Washington DC bookstore, so I went to the section where all the Che books are, took'em all down and hid them and placed Fontova's tome where they used to be for the viewing pleasure of the local lefties.....
KillCastro actually mentioned something interesting on one of his comments, that according to the CIA Cuba's national product grew by 10%, while according to our sources it's more like 500%.
And I shifted gears, y'all.... Why write about that boring brute, che huevera, when I have the (much funnier) eggheadish Cuban Vice President Carlos Lage of whom to make fun?
This past Thursday Mr. Egghead just dusted off any speculations that the Hermit Kingdom of the Caribbean is geared towards a Chinese-like, Viet-Cong smelling, Russkie-reminiscent model. No boys and gals, he pitched a royal fit. He said that Cuba will not do anything like that.... because the Chinese and the Vietnamese are making too much money and that the Perestroika lead to the destruction of the Old Soviet Union (we know that the Russkies did it on purpose, but we will tell you more when we finish our book)
There's a slight detail to all of this, though...
Raul loves the Chinese model, seassoned with some herbs native to Viet-Nam. He couldn't care less about the Russkie model for reasons too abundant to be touched upon in such a short space.
Mr Egghead Lage was apparently asleep when Raul commisioned an in deep study to a bunch of economists who are not the darlings of his older brother. Carlos Lage was in the bathroom at that moment, and one wonders what the hell was he doing there for so long!
The press inmediately quotes Phil Peters, who writes the Cuban Triangle blog -he also heads a think tank close to my home base, The Lexington Institute.... he said: "Raul Castro's style is different -- no long speeches, no middle-of-the night meetings, open criticism of economic performance, and demands for results. But he is respecting his interim role. As a result his policy preferences won't be known until Fidel leaves the scene". Phil, who is clever as hell, knows that Raul's cooking something interesting.... and that he will let the cat out of the bag ONLY when it is convenient for him and his plans.
Some of the economists consulted by Raul are in touch with the authors of this blog and their opinion is that while the State should hold onto the large industrial complexes, the rest of the industrial power, the services, and all other economic activities like retail, agriculture, professional services, and all entrepeneurial activity should be in the hands of private CUBAN owners. They also proposed that the foreign industry should have a presence in Cuba and that they should be able to hire Cubans at competitive salaries -first world salary scale- and that the Cuban professionals and workers can independently negotiate their salaries with their employers WITHOUT any interference or participation of the government. They even went a tad further: all salaries should be paid in Euros or dollars. The workers should be able to exchange those salaries for Convertible Cuban Currency ONLY if they felt like it.
Oh holy crap.... this puts the world of Mr. Egghead Lage on the brink of disaster... sure, he doesn't want that!
So he allies himself with a bunch of crusty curmudgeons who want the MILITARY to take over the industry and implement their management methods on the rest of the country.... the problem is, well, that all of those MILICOS actually don't want to do it that way, what they want to do is what Raul said, and that is just CAPITALISM OF STATE, under which they can make oodles of money with total liberty, without responding to Mr. Egghead Lage's whims and whines.
Let's remember that under Raul's advise the Amed Forces big honchos took classes abroad about capital management and business administration. My copies of Passion for Excelence, In Search of Excellence, the memories of Lee Iaccocca and the stories of Steven Jobs, Steven Wozniak, Bill Gates, and the story of Wang Labs were all bought -black market of course- from members of the military.
Yes, they got Cuban engineers to improve the very good design of the AK-47, making the Cuban version AKM (M stands for modified) so good that the Russkies bought it back from the Cubans, and they got the Dragunov sniper rifle and they produced the Mambi and a prototype called Cimarron with such a great technical performance that the Russkies were scratching their heads in disbelief..... and do you want to know the secret? They actually give cash to those engineers in exchange for their labor.
Those members of the military all know that State run companies are not the soution for Cuba's economy.
They already figured out that Mr. Lage is an obstacle.
And I do not want to be in his shoes after a certain famous funeral.....

Of course when we report - from sources very deep within the economic belly of communist Cuba that the latest USA sanctions have meant shit to Cuba, we are tilted of being ñangaras. "You can NOT openly say the USA was wrong “Fuck the fact they HAVE been wrong for 48 years. No you rather close your eyes and negate reality a reality so overwhelming that you are either blind & deaf or a total moron.
You do not even have to be an economist to figure this out. KaSStro is not (as much as people either for or against the prick like to characterize him as a genius) a wiz with numbers all he needs is enough common sense to realize that if this door closes, he had the potential of opening 2 thousand other doors that would replace the financial shortage the USA THOUGHT he was going to endure. BUT while he was giving the Chinese tourist deals that brought close to a million Chinese to vacation in Cuba in less than a year , he also took the opportunity to slam the USA as pure evil by not permitting families to reunite. I think this is called hitting the quiniela in race horse parlance.
Of course our contacts in the economic underbelly of KaSStro Cuba were livid that the USA would implement such idiotic measure! The then established course of action was eroding the government bit by bit. The black-market was killing KaSStro, the street dollar was establishing dissent amongst the people because again there were disparate economic classes and what does the USA do?. They go and FUCK IT ALL UP!
Years of work by the anti-KaSStro economists and Washington blows it all away in one fell swoop! FUCKING BRILLIANT!
But these economists have no vested interest in covering the USA’s stupidity (in fact they PREDICTED our own economic woes 3 years ago!) so out come the numbers. 500% to the KaSStro’s coffers and NOTHING for the Cuban people , why ? cause who gives a fuck?! As log as the foreign accounts are brimming in cash and there’s a built in propaganda war against Washington, the KaSStrist government WON!
And here we go year after year strategy after strategy we lob these soft balls to the KaSStro government and the prick knocks them outta the park. Yeah, the LED billboards did SO MUCH HARM!
So the fiscal ideas of these economists, which were once thrown in the garbage by KaSStro (who exclaimed when he saw them “If I do this it will be the end of the revolution!) Are resurrected by Raul. And NOT in gradual baby steps but in full force. Economists who had found their way to factory workers because their advance ideas , are finding their way back into favor with Raul. Raul wants MONEY and unlike KaSStro La China wants good will with the people so he will discuss their fuck ups , after all it is NOT HIS fuck ups but those of his brother and the USA. Raul’s daughter is known for her rebellious nature and the fact that she has close friends who are well know government dissidents, who better than HER to bring the good news to the people. And as Raul chips away at the monolithic economic disaster, the people of Cuba start to see the hope of a future. Salaries not controlled by the government, payments in Dollars or Euros, private property! Hell, the changes in Cuba will make those in China pale in comparison as far as speed and reach. A lot easier to give economic comfort to 12 million people and still maintain political control that it must have happened in China.
So, who are we kidding here? Who did NOT see this coming and if you did not because your head is way up your ass.. We have been saying this for 3 years!
I am “assuming” that if a couple of Washington political think-tanks ears perked up back then when we first brought up the roadmap we PROBABLY touched a nerve these institutes had considered as a possibility. Too fucking bad that the USA government and the “historical exile” are so self absorbed with burying KaSStro that they missed the obvious option that another KaSStro could come around and throw all their plans to hell while securing a FIRM place in a semi-capitalist Cuba.
WOW you guys, This to me is good fucking news!! I want for them to be able to breathe, own their own business,WOW, I really hope this happens, a little hole to open up for them in the Island, they are the ones, who deserve it, your news feels me with hope, trust me I need it, 45 years to wait is just too fucking long, Lets hope we start to see changes for the better soon.
