Meet Pat Oliphant

Meet Pat Oliphant the racist, anti-Semitic, anti-Cuban, anti-Arab, anti-Catholic bigot.
To this point, none of our egregious politicos or celebrities have had the balls to confront Oliphant or the Washington Post and ask for an apology. Just for you to know and to keep in mind while voting!

What makes Oliphant's "nativist" racism even more ridiculous is that he's from Australia! But he is certainly powerful. His editors don't even dare to proofread his copy, hence his frequent spelling mistakes (e.g. "nuisance" and "vist").

Absolutely, Manuel.
He's also the nephew of Sir Mark Oliphant, one of the physicists of the Manhattan Project. Now he's sharing his time between my base town, DC and some place in New Mexico. Somehow I guess that both places are too full of foreigners for his taste.
What a pathetic waste this Mr. Oliphant is.

It is this apparent - or real - lack of backbone in standing up to this "Oliphantitis," among other things, seemingly just another symptom of the disarray and the incompetence in the ranks why the other night when the good folks at the RNC called home with their yearly funds solicitation, they got an unexpected NO from this fed up CubanoAmericano. Is the Elephant gonna catch a clue from the smell of the Oliphant?

I wonder what would have happened if this cartoon portrayed people with Muslim garb, or African dress or even yarmulkas? Would the Washington Post would have published it? I don't think so. But Cubans are fair game for all these liberals in the MSM. Unfortunately, we do not have a powerful organization like the NAACP or the B'nai Brith that can speak for us and defend us. Maybe we should think of getting together and creating an organization akin to those two I mentioned, and maybe we could muster enough political power to inflict damage and hold accountable anyone who defame and denigrate us. Perhaps is time we Cubans think about creating such an organization because if we wait for our elected representives to speak on our behalf, we will grow old and never see anything happen. Those clowns who claim to represent our interests are absolutely silent on this issue. Shame on them!

No matter what we do, we're gonna be called Mafia, intransigent, fascists, etc, etc - so why not just forget about winning popularity contests with the PC crowd and really making them paranoid by creating the Cuban Defense League? I'm not talking baseball either.

That's not an outlandsih idea, Albert. Specially when the pattern is clear.... and wherever you run into one of this pricks who hate Cubans, well, give them time and you'll see how he also hate Jews.
Oh, crap, I forgot that we are the Jews of the Caribbean!

The only visible head that has taken the Washington Post to task is Humberto Fontova.

Charlie,
yes, you are so right. Where is Fantomas and the BUCL crowd? Enough crap to protest about the Spaniards but not a single word about a campaign to take the Washington Post to task for this insult. I read many protestations at Babalu about the insult but no one has suggested a campaign to defend ourselves from this crap. I can assure you that if this asshole cartoonist would have published a similar offensive cartoon about the Jews, all hell would have broken loose in Washington D.C. but our elected officials from both political parties are shining by their absence. Not a peep from anyone of these illustrious guys and gals that never miss a chance to be in front of TV cameras and microphones when it comes to defend inmigrants and speak up for them. Not one of them has written to the Post one single word of protest to condemn this racist cartoon.

Loved the way you used the phrase "brillan por su ausencia", Agustin....
It's just a few bloggers taking to task Old Nazi Oliphant, and Fontova, but nobody else. I guess that the "patriotic" Estefqans have nothing to say either. That overtly sensitive Cuban celebrity crowd has not uttered a peep. Can you imagine all the Jewish intellectuals, professionals, artists and entertainers silent about such an offense? The Muslims? The Mexicans? The Blacks? I can't picture that. But no, the so called fighters for a free Cuba in our political landscape here won't touch this issue with a ten foot pole.

To be right is enough. It is more than enough; it is the only thing. To ask for more than that is to nurse uncertainty and beg for validation.

Our enemies define us as much as our friends do. We should always endeavor to cultivate the right enemies as we do the right friends.

Manuel, I think that we have a silent group that is begging for approval and validation.
They are even afraid to be right, they so much need the validation of their friends, the aceptation for not being polemical and for being silent sheep.
And yes, there are some of us who want to have powerful friends and powerful enemies.
The kind of enemies one has talk volumes aobut the kind of person one is. And if one has powerful enemies, one will also have formidable friends.
