Define DEMOCRATIC!
Venezuela gives us all a perfect example of “Democracy” in countries plagued by populism , less than transparent politics and the communist will to WIN!.
Populism is 90% of the problem, and it is SO easy to sink a country into a communist nightmare just by appealing to the poor and less than educated masses.
I have thought about it a LOT , and it is not even a matter of giving the populous a new lease on life or really doing anything for them.
All you have to do is instill in them the idea that they deserve more, that they are BETTER than the middle & upper class and that THEIR time has come !
That a higher bigger crueler has been subjugating them for eons and that ALL their problems are a direct result of an evil doer, like let’s say the USA.
There you have instant and democratic electoral win.
This win by Putumayo will give a tremendous amount of confidence to commies all throughout Latin America , specially the poorer countries where a populist candidate with a lot of financial help from Venezuela will be a sure winner in a REALLY democratic election.
It also give the pricks in Kuba a MASSIVE incentive to actually hold “free” elections!
How difficult will it be to steal an election in Kuba , even under th most watchful eye of the OAS or independent panels? NOT VERY!
If the Kuban government finally decides to put an end to any USA demands of FREE elections and of course the Communist party WINS… What is going to be the posture of the USA towards Kuba in the eyes of the world?
A NO WIN situation!
Let’s say that release of all political prisoners and a free press is also demanded of the “Pricks in Power” (PiP) .. NOT A PROBLEM!
Don’t be too surprise if ALL political prisoners are released within a year! Do not be too surprised if an independent press is also allowed. How can they POSSIBLE affect any changes in government via a democratic process that is 100% controlled by a totalitarian goverment ?
Yes, we could say that the populous in Kuba is the ANTI-KASSTRO contingent so in Kuba the populist gambit will work in reverse, but it doesn’t take a genius to realize that if within a year the economy begins to improve in Kuba. That a false sense of “independence” makes its way to the people. That free enterprise and free travel are allowed. Let’s say the PiP do all of this. Your populist advantage dwindles by a HUGE margin. Now ad to that an election planned, set up, managed and performed by the Kuban government and what you get? A duly “democratically” elected communist government pretty mush the SAME government we have now !
I can just see Washington .. “Shit , did not see THAT coming”!
But it is THERE people, just ready to happen!
My sources are telling me that quite a few of political prisoners are being released .. QUITE A FEW!
This should be cause for extreme delight to all of us, but what does it MEAN? It means TROUBLE! It means that “something” is being cooked up!
The olive branch thrown at the USA government on Saturday was full of thorns.
The message was clear “I really do NOT plan in changing my ways, BUT .. I gotta pretend to be a semi reasonable guy!”
Washington’s answer was at the very least plain STUPID!

The myth deconstruction begins, subtlety but efficiently. Some much needed changes happen to the economy and politics in Kuba. Lots of good will and hopes of change inundate the people of Cuba ( hey the USA DID say it was the Cubans problem, right?) and BOOM , A DEMOCRATIC ELECTION !

Interestingt that you mentioned the place of burial. A source told me that there are two suposedly authentic wills penned by castro "secretly" circulating among the upper crust of the nomenklatura (that there are two of them cast a doubt on both of them!)The first one says that kasstro wishes to be put to rest in la Sierra Maestra (el Turquino is the highest elevation of la Sierra Maestra, and they have a bust of Marti and everything up there, plus the lefties from Latin America are always taken to escalate the peak) and the other one contains instructions for a burial in the garden of his ancestral home in Biran, where his parents are buried. There was a project for a mausoleum to be built at the "Plaza de la Robolucion" much a la Lenin, but it seems to have been shelved.
nah, I don't think he would have been buried in Havana. Real estate prices are gonna skyrocket when the first casino opens again xD.
Problem right now is El Mico. he sure won, but if someone tells me he hasn't rigged those elections, then just don't talk to me.
