Set them (all Cubans in the island) free

Sting sang many years ago a song that was apparently dedicated to possesive lovers.
I happen to know of a tyrant that is very possessive too, but who reportedly is not a great lover. Many women have reported that he's bad in bed, which in Habanero is called "mala hoja".

I have always believed that when you deal with some controlling tyranical individual, you are must likely dealing with some self-enamored, self-obsessed, sexually incapable, insecure freak.

It's not only about the prisoners, the journalists, and the independent librarian. Every single Cuban in the island has to be liberated. Totally liberated.
To achieve that, our help is crucial. Everything we can do. All we can do.
It's not what we are going to do when Cuba is free. It's what we are going to do to free Cuba.

One of the things they need the most is our material and moral support to be able to defeat the tyranny. When we judge them, when we expect them to do all by themselves, we are not helping, we are rather sending the wrong message. Remember, Jose Marti in the nineteenth century didn't only write in the newspapers -the blogs of his day- he helped the Cubans in the island to prepare a rebellion with his actions and his fund raisers, which were very important in order to finance the armies of Cubans who defeated Spain. Yes, Cubans defeated Spain. Twice. The second time around we had the Americans on our side, and yes, the U.S. helped us to avoid an spiral of carnage and destruction in Cuba. We need that to happen again. We need history to repeat itself.

Free, free, set them free
Free, free, set them free
Free, free, set them free

If you need somebody
Call my name
If you want someone
You can do the same
If you want to keep something precious
You got to lock it up and throw away the key
If you want to hold onto your possession
Don't even think about me

If you love somebody
If you love someone
If you love somebody
If you love someone, set them free
Set them free
Set them free
Set them free

If it's a mirror you want
Just look into my eyes
Or a whipping boy
Someone to despise
Or a prisoner in the dark
Tied up in chains you just can't see
Or a beast in a gilded cage
That's all some people ever want to be

If you love somebody
If you love someone
If you love somebody
If you love someone, set them free
Set them free
Set them free
Set them free

You can't control an independent heart
Can't tear the one you love apart
Forever conditioned to believe that we can't live
We can't live here and be happy with less
So many riches
So many souls
With everything we see that we want to possess

If you need somebody
Call my name
If you want someone
You can do the same
If you want to keep something precious
You got to lock it up and throw away the key
You want to hold onto your possession
Don't even think about me

If you love somebody
If you love someone
If you love somebody
If you love someone, set them free
Set them free
Set them free
Set them free
Set them free

I am 100% with you on this one. Now we need a government, a White House, who can see the big picture and lets the ball start rolling. "Give us the tools and we will do the job."
