This is just very strange for the American reader, and very common for the Cuban reader who spent his/her youth in Cuba.
The party for the Beast is off, and on again, and off, and on again, until they find the worst place to hold it.... It will be under the thicket of black flags across the street from the USIS.
I certainly hope that the ticker features some nices messages for the occasion!
By the way, there's a list today about the people who are going to perform in the "party". Or is it a funeral party?
Among a cluster of die hard commies, surprise, a rock band with solid credentials and English only lyrics. Hipnosis, one of the best rock bands in the scene today.
Why them?
Why them when they also have a roster of people who are supporters of the regime and then they pull this band out of the darkness?
As my rock and roll source reports, because the organizers (a dimwitted singer called Amaury Perez) wants several things:
1- Ingratiate himself with the Party by using the music favored by the Cuban youth as a token.
2- Show "diversity" by having a rock band in kasstros party (imagine, maybe this really kills him, because the guy hates rock, and he hates English language rock songs like a vampire hates the cross and the garlic)
3- Demonstrate power by effectively coercing a prestigious band into playing in that shameful show. Mind you, those very same Cuban rockers couldn't even get close to that place when Audioslave played its own propaganda show in the same venue, the improperly named "Out of Exile" show in Havana.
4- This comes at the time when rockers are being hounded and rounded up again.
5- G2 orders to do so to confuse and divide the rock movement by planting distrust among them.
So, pull your own conclusions.
I just hope the bearded bastard dies when Hipnosis start playing.
My prediction is that they will play their hardest prodemocracy anthem Hope and that kasstro will shit down his way to hell, they will play also Insane, State of Mind, Unchanged, The Color of Your Pain, and Too Late. No doubt this songs are dedicated to kasstro!
