The Message –Another movie review!
Keeping with the old Italian adage of keeping your friends close and your enemies closer
I went out and rented THE MESSAGE.
This flic pretty much portraits the history of Muhammad and according to the litany of explanations at the beginning of the movie, It was sanctioned by half the Muslim population in the world as being a TRUE AND ACTUAL DEPICTION of Muhammad’s life. (But NOT the way Muslims behave in 2006!)
They carry this so far that in order to keep with the holy, tradition the face of Muhammad is not shown at all , so you have Anthony Quinn talking into the camera and you have to imagine he is talking to Muhammad.
The premise is simple; Gabriel came to Muhammad and told him
“THERE IS ONLY ONE GOD SO GO TELL THE CREW AT MECCA TO CAST ASIDE 300 IDOLS OF KAABA”
Since MECCA made oodles of cash by catering to people who worshiped 300 idols, (just in whatever fucking currency they had back then that meant 300 possible statues!) the news of only catering to one god was not taken well by the elders of the city. Hell Muhammad didn’t even want HIS face depicted so there was NOTHING to sell ! Here we have a sequel of Christ’s life . Christ PART II, would’ve been a good name for this piece of trash.
All I gotta say is this movie is a pisser. Anyone who takes the Muslim religion at face value is a FUCKING NUT!. Even when the “bad guys” in the flic make comments about the authenticity of this MESSENGER of the ONE TRUE GOD , you find yourself asking “yeah , answer THAT ya prick ! Walk on water , cure some lepers DO SOMETHING besides having convulsions !
A Lot of comparisons are made between this “prophet” and those who came before him, like Moses and Christ. The simple request the non-believers asked were .” PROVE you ARE God’s messenger . Christ and Moses did , they were able to perform miracles you just sit there babbling orders!
When Muhammad decides to haul ass outta Mecca cause things were getting iffy , he is advised to go to the kingdom of a Christian king . There Muhammad’s followers do a pretty nice “ But you see Muhammad preaches the same lessons Christ did so .. we are indeed one and the same” The king bought into this bit of convoluted logic and gave him asylum.
Now, the orders as depicted in the movie, have VERY little to do with the Koran as we know today. For example in the movie, Muhammad instructs that ALL human beings are the same male or female. That Jews and Christians are equal in status in the eyes of god as are Muslims ( my question here was – and why was there a need to send a THIRD prophet, just to repeat a combination of old and new testament doctrines ? Did GOD get it wrong twice and had to come up with a different game plan and have it delivered by what amounts to be an unemployed pimp?)
Muhammad pretty much does not give any answers to any of the questions posed at him Unlike Christ with his gift for extraordinary and profound thought. (Give to Cesar that which belongs to Cesar and god that which belongs to god) Muhammad seems to be a little bit retarded and much of his “writings” are interpretations of the few followers he had of his constant “visions” . How this bunch bought into this farce is indeed a mystery , how the movie portraits Muhammad as a man who advocated peace above all and only under the most dire circumstances opted for violence ( Like fighting the MECCA soldiers that came to Medina to put an end to his shenanigans ) but even when allowing for violence the movie depicts a man , who declares
“No woman or child, or invalid or old “must be killed “noone must be killed unless his sword is about to strike you.” COOL, NICE GUY! No , decapitation or body dismembremt mentioned here , Actually no mention that all NON Muslims are infidels WHO must die! (Do we have to even wonder who put up the bucks for this trash ?)
The fact was that the Medina group was outnumbered but a brilliant military strategist (NOT Muhammad by the way) kicked the MECCA guys ass.
At that point as the prisoners are gathered and tied, an order comes from Muhammad to let them loose , to feed them an embrace them .! er.. say what ???
Well, this TOTALLY goes against the HISTORY of what happened in MEDINA where the Muhammad followers didn’t leave anyone alive. So the movie is clearly a propaganda piece trying to appeal to EVERYONE Christians, Jews etc , with a message of love and understanding from a 51 year old stuttered afflicted with bouts of epilepsy.
I think this fits very well with CB’s previous post of Saddam defense attorney being killed – WHAT A LOVING RELIGION!
Please do rent this flic and have yourself a fucking Piss O thon of laughter as to what the Muslim TRY to make you believe they are and what they ARE indeed!
