I keep getting these emails from Republican Chairman Ken Mehlman kenmehlman@gop.com every day.
In all of them the theme is the same. SEND US MONEY, because we need it to fight terrorism
WHAT MONEY ???? Are YOU really buying this economic recovery fairytale?
I am sick and tired of this bullshit. Terrorism can be fought the way Reagan fought communism, without fear to reprisals, by speaking his mind and not trying to be politically correct. Terrorism can be fought 90 miles from our shores and not on the other side of the world.
Below is my last reply to Mr. Chairman Ken Mehlman plea for contributions. My spin on this is his arrogant attitude as to what our ONLY future choices are:
"The choice is Mr. Mehlman, is that MY economic status has me at a point of bankruptcy. That I lost my business on 9/11/2001 and this much taunted "economic growth" I hear the White House crawing about is based on people making minimum wage (yes the unemployment rate is down but what is the average household income like? Do you really take us as FOOLS?) but that the mid to upper middle class (to which I belongED ) are settling for jobs that do not pay 1/3 of the salaries we were making PRE- President Bush.
Our houses, our way of living the future of our children is GONE.
I am sure YOUR income has not been affected in the least.
The ACTIONS of the Republican Party in these past years are reprehensible!
The point is that I have been a Republican since I became aware of what an election was but was too young to vote ( and my first choice was President NIXON, whom the Republican party sacrificed to the liberal media delight ) and now, I feel betrayed by president Bush.
The point is that as a Cuban-American president Bush has not fulfilled ONE single promise he made to us while running for president.
He has STILL not paid a single second to the inhuman wet-foot-dry-foot law imposed by that most incompetent and immoral man to ever occupy the White House “President Clinton. Instead he appoints panels to STUDY the Cuban situation . What is there to study ? Perhaps teaching the USA coast guards what constitutes AMERICAN soil may be a better investment.
And the point is that you WILL loose the support of the Cuban-American community in 2008. Republican can not longer take for granted party loyalty just based on our loyalty to great men like Ronald Reagan. We demand our president delivers. Bankruptcies in my social, class are epidemic, and Mr. Bush seems to have forgotten about all of us that contributed to his campaign (BTW I am still waiting for my "Lifetime membership certificate, signed by three presidents)!
The point is that I am recanting on my loyalty to a party who doesn’t really care about ME nor my people and are instead devoting my energies to electing a man like Giuliani who WILL bring prosperity and honor to our country instead of Bush's malapropisms and embarrassing gaffes.

Great letter.
The sole fact that the dry-foot wet-foot policy is kept in place is totally immoral.
The fact that all the promises have gone unfulfilled is unforgivable, and therefore shouldn't be forgotten, either.
I wish somebody in the Republican Party has the vision to understand that if with the 'Rats we go nowhere at this point there is no viable alternative for a voter, either they reform the immigration and taxation systems, and bring this country back to greatness or people will become apathetic about politicis.
This president, whom I voted for in 2004 due to my inability to even consider the alternatives, is reminding me more and more of Nixon - not the paranoid Watergate Nixon, but the big government/big business, bad economy for ordinary folks Nixon.
The lesser of the two evils... I will not vote or endorse anyone associated with the party of the Kennedys, the Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, HillBilly Clintons...so I opt not to consider "Rats". I will stick to the "elephant" in the white house...
I had NO expectations whatsoever when I freagging gave them my vote twice...they all talk a good game and make "bullshit" look like a work of art. Plain and Simple>
With a gun to my head I would not have voted 'RAT (well id there was a gun involved .. "MAYBE") but I feel such disappointment such sense of frustration and at the same time I keep hearing all this bullshit about economic growth and work passes and .. it seems like the people who PUT the president in the White House with their $200 & $500 donations are taking it up the ass. Even WEALTHY people I know are aghast as to their economic situation.
The White House is facing a ranch where all the cattle is slowly dying of starvation but they keep pointing as to how much work the ants have!
The one doctrine that brought back a healthy economy to this country the much maligned "trickle down economics” WORKED and it so VERY WELL!. And here we are getting shoved up or noses the UNEMPLOYMENT NUMBER GOING DOWN ... and that means what to anyone? UNEMPLOYMENT does NOT really correlate directly with an economic recovery. Hell during WWII there was NO unemployment! It sounds a bit like KaSStrogogia - ALL KUBANS HAVE A JOB.. Yes they do, making $10 dollars a month.
Why in the name of GOD were the interest rates increased ? Didn’t we realize that that would cause pandemonium to the young couples who started out and were able to buy their first house at 3% interest . Now the foreclosures are record breaking, and sadder still the breaking of these people who were given a taste of the American dream just to put them into the shameful role of bankruptcy. In EVERY war the USA has ever participated, for good or bad the economy has surged, not in unemployment numbers but in actual HARD INCOME. Cash that came into the family which in turn supported other industries.
Now we are talking about "creative" accounting" ways to realize what once was possible with just hard work and dedication, owning your own home.
We are coming up with 50 years mortgages and interest only balloon mortgages . Is this progress?

I have a friend who owned a software development company one of the biggest ones in Long Island, the jobs were so scarce that he had to cut all employees salaries by half , when that dint make it he had to lay off half the employees (which in turn had to go and work at a mall for minimum wage, but in the government accounting they WERE employed !) Just to survive this fellow (a multimillionaire when I met him) mortgaged EVERYTHING he owned including his 5 million home (just so he could support the rest of his employees) and lost it all. Now he lives in an efficiency apartment in West Palm Beach, working at a jewelry store. His wife is working at a bakery and his kids had to give up the idea of going to college .. ECONOMIC RECOVERY???? WHERE?
And THIS is what I resent.
Interest rates should be at prime + .01% let small business owners recuperate, let people get out from under the collapse of 9/11 let us fucking BREATH! Give the country 10 years and if you were gonna go into a war, god damn it make profitable like every other war had been. But the FEAR here the overwhelming paralyzing fear on the part of the administration is that the media would be ALL over Bush for actually having a REAL economic growth during a war, because they would blame him of going to war to feed the rich. In the meantime we have become a populist country where only the poorest people are receiving any significant help and you and I are looking at our savings and retirement plans go to shit
Like Carmen says it is a sham but Bush has played it worse than anyone else in HISTORY! Granted he is paralyzed with fear about what the MSM but that fear will cost them the election in 2008 - if there's anyone left in 2008 with enough energy to go vote.
I personally am giving up on BOTH 'CANS and 'RATS and I am hoping that a Bill Gates type shows up and tell the world to go fuck themselves, builds this country's economy and stop "forgiving" $50 billion debts to Africa and $375 million to subsidized the Mexican police.

AND in the midst of all of this we grant an extra 50,000 visas to technical foreigners!!!!! Like there aren’t enough technical people in the USA relegated to stocking the shelves at HOME DEPOT.
The logic here is that these 50,000 foreigners will work at 1/3 the salary of the USA workers. Peachy but what does the USA worker do after 10 years experience and a $250,000 mortage ?

Mayor Bloomberg in NY knew nothing about politics but sure knew how to make money.. Well NY city has a surplus balance and I have gotten 3 TAX rebates since he is in office. Furthermore I believe we will be FORCED to vote independent in 2008 because the MSM has such a stronghold on the Republican Party that they will be lame ducks even before getting into office.
So start looking for INDEPENDENTS and do not feel you are being disloyal, THEY were disloyal to your trust! And thusly they MUST pay !
And one more thing, do you know why we are experiencing a lower unemployment? Simply because people who stop receiving the unemployment check stop being qualified as unemployed. Does it mean that they got a new (and much lower paying) job? No. It just means that they overshot the 13 to 26 weeks periods of "official unemployment". The check stops coming in, so they are not "officially counted" as unemployed anylonger.
We are not counting a lot of males, over the age of forty, that their high qualifications make them unemployable. Or women with children, who are not given full time jobs and are surviving on a couple of part times. There's a new class of people coming up as a surge from the middle class and the former upper middle class: the underemployed. They stay like that untill by virtue of age, gender and race they become unemployable.
(yes, a white male, over forty, who gets laid off his job is totally unemployable, so, there's another house put in the market and apparently, there's a great economy going on, because houses are being bought and sold!)
This is a great post, and the comments are - to use a 60's-ism, "right on." The Elephant is not listening and in the process is going to lose a lot of folks to whom conservatism does not mean, as I stated on a comment to Paxety Pages, "feed my greed," but rather "preserve what is good and right." To give an example of the people they are losing, my good wife, brought up a Southern Democrat, but who had been supporting the Elephant since Reagan came on the scene in 1980, is now so pissed off because of what she perceives, rightly or wrongly, as overt and covert White House support for companies who want to goose their earnings and stock value by shafting employees and screwing their pensions, she's vowed to vote Jackass from now on. Needless to say, some of this directly affects her, hence her understandable displeasure. This is unfortunate, but that's what's happening and the Pachyderm better wake up!!
And the frustration and neglect on the part of the "What House" in regards to the Cuba problem - because it IS a problem whether or not the inhabitants of the "What House" want to recognize it or not - are increasingly more and more frustrating, not just to me, but to many others. I'm not going to go vote Jackass, by any means, any more than a Jew would vote NSDAP. But alternatives such as Independent are increasingly more attractive. In truth, this being the land of success through competition, we need more competition in the political arena. Will a TRUE Conservative party ever spring up? I think it would attract many from all sides of the political spectrum if it embodied TRUE CONSERVATIVE PRINCIPLES: "To preserve and promote that which by its very nature is good and right." Don't confuse "right" with "right wing," by the way.
Here's one thing the "What House" could do to start turning things around and thereby also returning trouble to troublemakers: Announce that henceforth there will be no interference against any person or group taking direct action against kaSStro and any supporters, on Cuban soil. No Coast Guard interceptions of groups or persons raiding Cuba; no interference with deliveries of weapons or supplies; recognition of any Cuban government-in-arms established on Cuban soil, if that became reality at some point. In other words, at the very least, look the other way, as was done when the bearded swine and his rats were in the Sierra Maestra.
And, yes, I have been ignoring the plaintive and "let's scare them" missives from the Pachyderm asking for more and more money...I believe one should manage the household budget CONSERVATIVELY.

If Cubans do not do something and FAST we all be on line for food stamps and some of us perhaps taking a boat BACK to Kuba and deal with THAT hell!
