Phone calls and e-mails

I received some e-mails yesterday from an American friend in which he copied some of the articles that have been circulating all around the internet on Monday. Those messages were forwards of our own articles from the blogburst about Guillermo Fariñas. He called, too. He was very touched, very moved, and he was wondering how is that the government goes the extra mile to liberate Afghanistan where a Christian convert is threatened with court approved lynching, or Iraq, where Americans are betrayed on a daily basis, and we have the people of Cuba suffering the most unspeakable of evils in silence, with the complicity of the American press. At some point, he said: "I don't understand how is that we have left your country abandoned, you are like us."
He felt that Cuba was part of a secret trade off with the Russians (which we know it was) and he promised me to copy his whole list that includes college and army buddies with our articles about Fariñas. If us, and the other bloggers, start getting hits from far flung places of Middle America, the wilderness, and military bases all over the place out of a sudden, it's just because this friend of ours (among many and many others) is helping us to spread the truth about Cuba where it most needs to be heard: the heart of America.
I also got a phone call from the father of a friend of mine.
This gentleman is in his late 80's. He is the typical old dandy, and he is on top of everything technological, to the shame of my friend, who is obviously less savvy, much less.... Well, he followed the whole blogburst thing, and shared with friends, mainly non-Cubans, since he lives in a place where Cubans are not an endemic species.
His conclusion is that kasstro's Cuba has to be totally destroyed for a New Cuba to rise from the ashes like the Phoenix. He went into a lot of historical examples of societies that had to be destroyed to let a new and more advance entity to be born out of the debris. The secret, according to him is simple: just keep history written in stone, so nobody will ever forget it. His recipe: KillCastro!
He loves the name of this blog, and I promised him I will make a T-shirt for him emblassoned with it for when he goes walking his dog along his town's riverwalk.
Thanks to y'all for participating in the blogburst.
Thanks to y'all for helping raise awareness on the Cuban cause, by forwarding links and e-mails to your contacts.
Thanks to y'all for reading us.

Too bad America mostly ignores the wise elderly, and why are we honoring any deals with made with the supposedly defunct Soviets?

Believe me Ziva, it's not only Cuba, we have to take back this country, too. By the way, a lot of demonstrations for the "illegal immigrants" complete with that billboard from Univision that locates Los Angeles in Mexico, the President is dealing with this on a "one fits all" terms, but he still keeps in place the dry-foot wet-foot. It's all about cheap labor, not about people who are escaping communism to be free. Those keep on being tossed over the Wall of Terror of the Caribbean.

I'll pay $0.50 more for my lettuce to restore some immigration order into this country.

BTW, I too was very moved and impresed by "The light that blinds the tyrant," it shows that is was from your heart.

I don't have a problem with the Mexicans, but I have a huge problem with the hypocrisy involved in enforcement. Why are refugees from Cuba treated like criminals by the Coast Guard while 12.5 million others are given a free pass? I'd offer American citizenship to Cubans, carte-blanche for any who want it. There's plenty of room.

Careful Ziva, if you do that for sure you will not get the ones you are looking for; you want politcal refugees asylum seekers, not communist capitalists.

Orlando, I'm with you. But I also thing we have to start by respecting and enforcing laws.

Charlie, it goes without saying that I hope you told him how much we think of him. If and when you talk with him again, tell him some cubanita girl in new england....would like to meet him in person some day and tell him how brave I think he is...and that the important thing is that we have not abandoned them, even if our countries have.

I just phoned my friend and read your comment, Ventanita.
We need to enforce immigration laws, sure. But we need to stop throwings Cubans back to hell, that's the first thing need to do. And I am with Ziva in this, we would be better off giving American citizenship to every Cuban that is not a party honcho, and them liberating them because the party honchos and chivatos are opressing American citizens.

COMUNISTS will come from every part of the hemisphere, not only Cuba,in fact United States is a Country with a huge Comunists Party and lefties.

From the majority that migrates from cuba a very, very small percentage are "capitalists comunists" and lets not forget that Comunists from Cuba are migrating to this Country long way ago since the late 50s and early 70s.so is very unfair to blame the new generation alone for the Cuban suffering.

tocororo, you misinterpreted my comment. I didn't mean that the Cubans that are coming are capitalist communists, I meant that if tomorrow Bush awoke saying each and every Cuban who wants to come can have citizenship, we would get capitalist communist. I'm not blaming anyone.

Charlie, thank you so much.

I Know ventanita, I respect you point of view and I respect you as Cuban and a lady because I am gentleman. I just wanted to clarify the message that’s all.
We could have different ideas and opinions and have respect for each other, and after all you and me want the same thing...A FREE CUBA

Venti, I meant exaclty that. We already have plenty of communists in this country. I'm for anything that makes it easier to escape the gulag. Generations of Cubans have gone through kasstro's indoctrination from birth and the rafts keep coming, are you saying you would deny them asylum?

Just wanted to thank all my blogger brothers and sisters for the awesome work you are doing to spread and speak truth to power - challenging the entrenched interests of the "MSM" and others on the sinister side of the spectrum. Got at least 1 "hit" from abroad in Havana5060 in regards to the Fariñas post...all this is having a positive effect, slowly but surely undermining the pseudo-arguments and "logic" of kagaSStro supporters and their choirs of whiners.
