There's also another paper that I like a lot, The New York Sun. It's the only other paper along with the Post that calls cagastro what he is: the dictator, the tyrant that rules Cuba, etc... The New York times is not the Gray Lady anylonger, it's the Red Whore of Times Square.

I just had a chance to read today’s editorial on the NY Post and I am about to write to them with two purposes in mind:
First to thank him for dealing with this issue in NYC, where most the wet foot / dry foot issue is pretty much considered the names of some Indian tribes. Second to encourage them to follow through on the reasons WHY President Bush has not residence this law.
I encourage you all to do the same:

My letter to the post :

As a Cuban-American I was thrilled to see your editorial condemning the idiotic (or as we Cubans call it – murderous) dry foot / wet foot policy regarding Cubans arriving as refugees to the USA.

While the liberal media is wont to calling those Cuban “economic immigrants”, Cubans have been granted special privileges when arriving in the USA due to the fact that Castro’s 47 year regime has in great part lasted due to idiotic USA policies through his dictatorship. As a consolation prize the Cuban Adjustment Law (issued by the US in 1966 ) treated ANY Cuban trying to make their way to the USA as a “political refugee” and entitled to a due process in USA soil to see if the “political refugee” status was indeed granted.

During the last Democrat presidency, the Cuban Adjustment law was completely ignored by the Clinton administration and the despicable dry foot / wet foot travesty was implemented, in fact denying Cubans of the due process granted to them by the Adjustment law.

This was in typical liberal conciliatory practice which would appease the most despotic regime ever known in Latin America.

During the Clinton years Castro spread his full reign of terror through the region , while suffering no reciprocal consequences from the Clinton White House. Even the shooting down of an American civilian plane in international waters by Castro’s air force was only handled with “strong notes of protest” issues by the Clinton bunch to the UN.

Now, we can blame all this travesty on Clinton but we must be honest and admit that President Bush has not done an iota of proactive politicking in order to terminate the despicable dry foot /wet foot law.

There have been interminable promises from the Bush white house to the Cuban –American community as to a “stronger stand” against Castro but most of it has been the same demagogy we have heard for the last 47 years. The last document issued by the Bush administration specifically regarding Cuba the optimistically titled “Cuban Transition Plan” was nothing but 400 pages of easily bypassed rules and regulations which have only affected the 12 million habitants in the Island prison. As a lifetime Republican and proud Cuban-American I am ashamed of the disdain in which my countrymen and my place of birth have been treated by President Bush.

Our expectations were so much higher than the realities, the promises so much loftier than what has been delivered.

It is clear that the Bush administration is waiting for the “natural solution” of Castro’s death to be forced to intervene in the nightmare that lies 90 miles from the USA, while willingly topple a tyrant half way across the world.

While we wait for Castro’s death we hope that the Bush administration does not again allow the travesty of 15 men and women deported to Cuba on the basis of the understanding from a USA Coast Guard as to what is or is not USA territory!

I am sure that if any crime had been committed on that chunk of concrete it would had been tried in a USA court.

Again THANK YOU for exposing this mockery of justice in a city where wearing a CHE t-Shirt is still considered trendy liberal statement.

KC...that is an AWESOME letter you sent to the editor of the paper...
The negativity towards Cubans in general from the Bush administration, and the division amongst Cuban Americans is absolutely pathetic.
I honestly see no end to this struggle and we are being played by everyone like a fidle in the Charlie Daniel's band!
