Good news and big thanks!
Today we learnt that goverment might revise that policy, plus a more rigurous application of the sanctions that are part of the Helms Burton law.
Thanks to all for this, from the most humble letter to us, to the most powerful leadership in DC. Times are a-changin' (as sung by Val Prieto impersonating Bob Dylan, fueled by powerful Mighty Hog Brew )

Paraphrasing perhaps the best Rock lyrics ever written
"I have my moment of doubt and pain"
regarding any changes in politics towards Cuba.
We all read we a great deal of glee that "an attorney" is about to sue the USA government – Do we have this attorney’s name?
It would be nice to know who is tackling this battle. How can we ALL help him/her? A Petition , donations?
What DO WE the masses DO? – Besides blogging I mean.
I keep referring toe the Walls of Jericho and the fact that SOUND brought them down.
A MASSIVE overwhelming sound. WE NEED THOSE TRUMPETS , and we need them NOW!
Would calling the White House at a particular day and time from ALL over the USA cause a reaction?
Let’s say Thanksgiving Day at 12PM DC time and just say REPEAL THE WET FOOT /DRY FOOT LAW.
I mean SOME media may pick up on this.
Diaz–Balart may just go on a national forum and tell George “hey bud, this is coming…” Cubans are MAD!
As long as this remains a Cuban, Cuban/American and Honorary Cubans issue I can see a lot of demagoguery and false promises and not a FUCKING thing being done. The international press needs to get involved.
Case in point; This threat to kill Czech Foreign Minister Cyril Svoboda and his family regarding his actions against KaSStro are making news in friggin’ Thailand!
Or perhaps the law suit would carry more weight if it was NOT about the law itself, but if it was a criminal negligence suit against the USA coast guards . Hell we have those every day in NYC every day. There are a few pending regarding the 9/11 devastation.
Should the USA coast guard NOT be prepared to save two people from a capsized boat? What? No divers on the boats?
Imagine if the fire department and the NYPD had that kind of preparation during 9/11 . In fact shouldn’t the USA coast guard be criminally investigated about this? What if this was a passenger cruise ship? How many people would’ve died?
Are our politicos in Washington co-sponsoring a suit against this travesty we are calling a “law”?. Can we have a march on Washington?
I mean:
CAN WE DO SOMETHING TANGIBLE, VISIBLE, FORCEFUL, NEWS WORTHY
That will put some real pressure on the Bush administration?
Should the Republican Party KNOW that if this fucking law is not repealed Cuban Americans will vote for god damn Hillary Clinton if necessary so that we do not get fooled again by another Republican president issuing “strong notes of protest” while people are dying within swimming distance of the coasts of the USA?
Maybe that is the deal! Maybe we should go to the Democrats – Hey I am willing to sell out as long as Cuba and Cubans benefit.
“Here Hillary you dyke, here ya go, a buncha Cuban votes! Shit on your cheating husband’s murderous law”
She may just do it to spite the lying bastard. And we ALL know that a politician will embrace a new potential voter a LOT harder that they will a voter they already take for granted. And the Republicans HAVE taken us for granted!
If you are a Republican law maker in Washington, would you not be hanging your head is shame over this? And, if they are not;
should we NOT force THEM to do it ?
The name of the lawyer is Eduardo Soto. I wish him well, we need him to win. But maybe the Government overturns that piece of fraud of an executive order, and then they don't have to go to court over this. Which is very likely, since litigation can be very embarrassing!
I am very pesimistic about this...my good sources say that this law might never be overturned, it could open another can of worms the govt is not ready to deal with considering the war on terror etc..So, I doubt it this will even be put on file, sounds more like a good idea for the back burner and lip services to Cuban Americans screaming about this wet foot/dry foot "disease".
