Havana under the waves

Massive walls of seawater propelled by Hurricane Wilma crashed continuously into the famous promenade of el Malecon in the city of Havana, then breaking into the old magnificent neighboorhoods of yesterday, now reduced to old, crumbling buildings as the storm prepared to advance on Florida. The outer bands of Wilma also drenched western Cuba and flooded evacuated communities along the island's southern coast after the hurricane clobbered Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. The extent of damage in Cuba's north was not immediately assessed or known. When the water recedes and the materials in the old buildings dry and resettle is when a number of structures will colapse.
On Sunday, tyrant fidel kagasstro finally dared to appear on a television programme to calm Cubans anticipating increased winds and flooding as Wilma passed by en route to south-western Florida. He also offered to send Cuban doctors to Mexico to help in recovery work after Wilma struck. That was a nice way of calming everyone. Get buffeted by the hurricane, and then the tyrant comes and loots you out of your scarce material help to give it to his ally, your enemy. He doesn't freaking care about Cubans, but communist propaganda 101 tells him to help a country with a sympathetic population at the expense of the suffering, pain, and despair of Cuba's own population who despise the dictator and his Mexican admirers. Talk about terrorism of state and inhuman cruelty.
