KATRINA RELIEF DRIVE
New Orleans and the Gulf Coast have suffered the worst natural disaster in American History. Thousands are feared dead, tens of thousands homeless, over a million without power, unbelievable pain and suffering.
There are stories of bodies floating in the streets of New Orleans, of alligators and sharks. Heartbreaking stories of missing family members, of gulf coast communities completely destroyed. And, there are heartwarming stories that demonstrate the great character that most Americans share like this one Here . It is all too much to comprehend. Our relief organizations need help, a lot of help.

I need to gather my thoughts about this the most tragic natural disaster in USA history. I am quite overcome with a sense of grief and utter powerless. I need to come to terms as to WHY something like this happens to us. I am sure I will come up with some diatribe as to what all of this MEANS. In the meantime:
I can FIRST hand account for this organization's [http://www.catholiccharitiesusa.org/ ] tremendous help to Cuban immigrants.
So please help out.
It is not only New Orleans victims that are at peril. The crisis we will suffer in the USA will be apocalyptic. I can only hope this tragedy will force our hand at less diplomacy and more action. Less good will towards foreign governments and look more inwards as to the fact we are ALONE in this fucking world.
I do hate the tie in with this devastation and politics, but friends it is INEVITABLE!
