Seventeen heros
According to a report from Afghan journalist Ayaz Gul, writing today from Islamabad for the Voice of America, seventeen Spanish soldiers were killed in a NATO helicopter crash in Afghanistan. They were with the NATO-led peacekeeping corps in operation in Afghanistan and the spokesman from the Spanish Defense Ministry reports that the helicopter went down near the western city of Herat, near the main base of the Spaniards.
At this point it's not know if there was a mechanical failure or if the craft was downed by enemy fire, since there are considerably less terrorist groups operating in that area than in the mainly lawless Eastern and Southern parts of that country.
As a strange note, some Afghan officials are saying that the craft collided in mid-air with another helicopter (we all now that in those regions the rumor mill has more or less the same face value and the same accuracy than CNN) while there's no official confirmation from neither the US or the Spanish forces operating in the area. Apparently, the second group of Spaniards hurt in the incident were part of another heli-borned crew that was conduction a rescue mission after seeing the first helicopter crash. These brave men died for the freedom of Afghans, for the elimination of the savage "sharia" and for the dignity of women and children, so the women of Afghanistan are not bundled in burqas by some bearded asshole with ten meters of rags around his head and their kids are not traded as sex objects to be raped and killed by some Mohammedan bastard. These men died trying to bring the joys of everyday life to one of the saddest corners of this planet, they died trying to secure a future for millions of people who were robbed of their happiness and the spark in their eyes by the Taliban and Al-Qaeda.
After Zapatero and his Zapatistas did away with the glory of Spain nn March 11, I would not be surprised if the left starts braying for the total retreat of these troops from the Afghan theater of operations. It was reported that the Spanish soldiers left Iraq in shame, with their heads low, because they felt that they had been betrayed by the socio-communist conspiracy that used the terrorist attacks of March 11 to create a political climate of chaos to wrestle power from the Popular Party. The left in Spain has a history of conforting terrorists, of loving kagasstro, and mainly, of being fiercely antiAmerican. The Spanish left is very vocal in asking for condemnation to Bush, whom they refuse to call by his title of President, but at the same time they call the beast of Biran "Caudillo" and "Presidente". As far as I can recall, kagasstro doesn't meet the minimun gonad mass requirement to become an apprentice of caudillo and he had never been elected president of Cuba, he is just a brutish murderous dictator. But you already know the left. They do any and everything to prop a tyrant of Stalinist pedigree. Or an Islamic terrorist, or some ETA criminal, or some ridiculous colonel of vaudeville, like chavez.
In this dark hour, we need to salute and confort our Spanish allies in all sectors of society and the military and join them in their repudiation of Zapatero the Communist. The Spaniards need our support too, at least in the moral field, so that the fifth column of the left in Spain can be effectively destroyed and defeated.
